The Interpretation of Dreams

Freud’s landmark 1899 work, where he argues that dreams are the “royal road to the unconscious” — disguised fulfillments of repressed wishes, decipherable through free association. Dense and sprawling, it’s the foundation of psychoanalysis and one of the most influential books of the 20th century.
What I find interesting:
The interpretive method is fascinating even if you don’t accept all of Freud’s conclusions — the idea that our waking mind constructs a censor that distorts what the dreaming mind actually wants to say. I haven’t taken many notes on this one, but it stays with you.
Why read it:
Read it as intellectual history rather than clinical gospel. Whether or not dreams work exactly as Freud describes, the book opened a door that science is still walking through.

Tại sao nên đọc:
Đọc như một cuốn sách lịch sử tư tưởng hơn là cẩm nang lâm sàng. Dù Freud có sai ở nhiều chỗ, ông đã mở một cánh cửa mà khoa học vẫn đang tiếp tục bước vào.
